Plymouth Relate is delighted that the Relate Institute will lead the Level 4 Introduction the Relationship Counselling here in Plymouth from October 2014 – this is an exiting opportunity to undertake the first year of training as a Relate Counsellor in the South West. The Level 5 Diploma in Relationship Counselling will be held in 2015.
This course is part of a two year linked course and students will be required to attend both years (ie Level 4 and 5 ) to qualify.
The Level 4 course is accredited by the CPCAB and aims to provide training for practitioners wishing to work as relationship counsellors with Relate and other counselling organisations and who have previous working experience and qualifications in the field of counselling.
The taught element of the course consists of 15 days between October 2014 and April 2015. The course will be run at the Relate Centre in Plymouth . Each day will begin at 9.30 and ends at 5pm. Students will undertake a placement at Relate Plymouth or South Devon or another approved clinical setting.

Friday 5th December – Sat 6th December
Friday 16th January – Sta 17th January
Friday 13th February – Sat 14th February
Friday 13th March – Sat 14th March
Thursday 16th April, Friday 17th , Sat 18th April
*Age age 19 or over
*Recognised prior learning and/or basic counselling skills qualification at Level 2/3 or equivalent
*Access to a practice in a Relate Centre or other approved setting
All successful applicants will be required to have undergone the appropriate DBS checks as requested by the Placement centre.
Applicants who do not have previous Relate practitioner qualifications will be required to attend for interview and will need to demonstrate personal qualities relevant to therapeutic practice and training which include the following:
*Respect for and valuing of others, and their difference
*A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice
*A capacity to cope with the professional and academic demands of the course
*A capacity to be reflective and use experience and feedback constructively
